A Quiet, Creative Home
for Writers and Dreamers

A soulfully curated retreat in a lived-in Blackpool home, designed for writers, artists, and those in search of creative quiet, or simply a gentle escape from the everyday.

The world moves fast. This space doesn’t.

Welcome

A soulful creative hideaway in Blackpool for writers, artists, and reflective minds.

Step into a space that nourishes creativity, inviting you to discover new ideas or find solace away from daily distractions. The Writer’s Rooms are a quiet, intimate retreat tucked inside the lived-in, leafy home of two professional creatives—designed for those seeking depth, focus, and inspiration away from the noise.

Whether you’re writing a novel, sketching ideas, journaling quietly, or simply craving solitude with a book and a pot of tea—this is your space.

Nestled just ten minutes walk from Blackpool’s award-winning Stanley Park, with its lakes, nature reserve, and art deco café—a perfect break spot for stretching your legs and clearing your mind or stimulating the brain and senses for creativity.

The Writer’s Rooms are not a coworking space, or a hotel or silent monastery. They are something slower, softer, and more personal.

Meet your hosts

‘Hi, I’m Jay and with my partner Jen, we are opening our home for fellow creatives.

I am a published author and artist, and Jen is also a full-time professional artist. We know just how vital it is to have a space that doesn’t just allow creativity but actively nourishes it. The Writer’s Rooms were born from that need: quiet, beauty, and a sense of being supported. Our home is where we create our art, writing, and more every day and we invite you to join us. These rooms are an invitation to honour your creative ambition, not just fit it in around the edges of life.’

Jay and Jen — Founders, The Writer’s Rooms

A Creative Home from Home

You’ll find quiet corners, bookshelves that welcome your curiosity, and the gentle feeling of being looked after while you work or reflect.

We offer two beautiful rooms—The Lounge and The Library—each booked individually for total creative immersion. You’ll have the space entirely to yourself, with no interruptions and all the comforts of a thoughtfully hosted stay.

Tea is always brewing. Coffee is freshly ground. A plate of tasty biscuits sits nearby.

The Lounge

A spacious, light-filled room at the front of the house, surrounded by trees and greenery.
• Oriental writing desk & large soft sofas
• A forest mural and rich green palette
• Wooden floors, natural light, and a sense of calm expansiveness
• Personal artwork throughout
Though The Lounge overlooks a main road, it’s shielded by a leafy front garden and filled with natural quiet—a space to sink into.

The Library

A rich, cocoon-like space at the back of the house for reading, thinking, or writing in peace.
• Lush deep red walls and high ceilings
• Low handmade antique coffee table and soft floor cushions
• Classic Chesterfield sofa for reading or resting
• Large Persian-style rug and shelves full of books
• Antique features
The Library is slightly smaller than The Lounge, but deeply atmospheric—a private room that invites reflection, stillness and thought.

Who finds a home here?

  • Writers, poets, and journallers shaping books, blogs, essays, poetry or exploring fresh ideas waiting to emerge
  • Artists in search of a calm space, whether planning, sketching, or simply needing a peaceful pause from the everyday
  • Students or researchers who need focused solitude, or want to step away from distraction and into clarity
  • Deep thinkers or readers yearning for quiet, whether to reflect, rest, or let ideas unfurl in peace
  • Anyone seeking focused time in a beautiful space to rest, unplug, recharge, or discover their own creative calm

Quiet, Not Silent
The Writer’s Rooms offer the gentle hush of an adult home. No children, no pets, just the soft hum of life around you: a kettle boiling, a page turning, the brush of pen on paper. Not the stillness of complete silence, but the kind of everyday serenity that welcomes creativity and focus.

FAQ

What to expect and how to book

No—but it is very quiet. The house is shared by two professional creatives (no children or pets), and we keep background noise to a minimum. You may hear a kettle boil or a book page turn, but this is a calm, considered space—quiet, not silent.

Each room is offered as a solo retreat. We don’t currently offer shared bookings or group sessions. This keeps the space peaceful and ensures each guest has full, uninterrupted use of their room.

Not at all. While many of our guests are writers, artists, or creatives working on projects, you’re just as welcome if you want to read quietly, reflect, sketch, journal, or simply retreat from the world for a few hours.

We warmly welcome artists, but please note: The Writer’s Rooms are not studio spaces. We don’t accommodate painting, messy materials, or large-scale works.

Instead, these rooms are ideal for sketching, planning, visual journaling, or reflective creative work—anything low-impact that keeps the environment calm, clean, and shared respectfully with others.

If you work digitally or on paper with dry materials (pencil, pen etc.), you’ll feel right at home.

Each session includes exclusive access to your chosen room, freshly brewed coffee, loose leaf tea and biscuits.

No—bookings are by enquiry only. We curate each day carefully to keep the atmosphere calm and intentional, and to ensure that no two guests share the same space.

We’re in Blackpool, away from the busy seafront and tourist areas, with free on-road parking and just a 5-minute cab from Blackpool North train station. Directions are shared upon booking confirmation.

While both The Lounge and The Library are located on the ground floor, please note that there are two steps to enter the house, which may make access difficult for some guests. Also, the WC is located on the first floor via a staircase, and the space is not currently wheelchair accessible.

We deeply value inclusivity and are exploring future adaptations. In the meantime, we’re always happy to discuss your specific needs before booking.

Each room is private and never shared. There may occasionally be another guest in the second room, but the spaces are fully separate and managed to preserve your quiet and privacy.

Yes—but only as much as you’d like. We will greet you on arrival and be on hand for refreshments. Otherwise, you’re left entirely to your creative process.

We ask you to tell us a little about yourself—not for marketing, but to ensure The Writer’s Rooms are the right environment for you, and that we can offer the calm, focused atmosphere our guests value.

This is a home as much as a retreat space. A short introduction helps us get a feel for your needs, your creative goals, and your expectations—so we can welcome you with clarity, care, and respect for the space.

Session prices are the same for either room:

  • The Lounge – £35 per morning (9am-12pm) or afternoon (1pm-4pm)
  • The Library – £35 per morning (9am-12pm) or afternoon (1pm-4pm)

Each session is 3 hours and includes fresh coffee, loose-leaf tea and biscuits, and a soulful creative setting.

Yes, absolutely. Many guests find that a full day or multi-day visit helps them settle deeper into their work.

We offer extended bookings:

  • 1 full day (2 sessions) – £65
  • 2 days – £120
  • 3 days – £170

All multi-day bookings include:

  • Full use of your selected room each day (9am – 4pm)
  • Unlimited freshly brewed coffee, loose leaf tea, and biscuits
  • Local accommodation suggestions (if needed)

All dates are subject to availability.

We don’t currently offer overnight accommodation, but we can recommend lovely local B&Bs and peaceful spots nearby. Let us know in your enquiry if you’d like suggestions—we’re happy to help you shape a full creative retreat.

Yes, you’re welcome to book a series of sessions or longer stays in advance—especially if you’re working on a specific project or want to build a regular creative rhythm. Just let us know your preferred dates in your enquiry, and we’ll check availability and help plan your visits.

While we warmly welcome you to browse, read, and be inspired during your visit, the books in our Library are part of our personal collection and not available for borrowing.

Feel free to settle in with a title while you’re here—but we kindly ask that all books remain on the premises. As with everything in The Writer’s Rooms, we trust guests to treat the space—and its contents—with care and respect.

Yes, we do. A beautifully wrapped Writer’s Rooms voucher makes a thoughtful gift for the writer, artist, or dreamer in your life. Vouchers can be made out for specific sessions or amounts. Just mention you’re interested in a gift voucher when you get in touch, and we’ll take care of the rest.
